Want to join the program and got quesions?

Do I Need To Be A Designer To Apply?

Definitely not. While having an eye for design and style certainly helps, the program is aimed at a broad audience. No matter if you're a computer scientist, designer, engineer or physics graduate, as long as you're curious to see how cutting edge tchnology can be employed in the realm of visual design, animation, realtime, games, web or even graphic design, this program is for you.

Do I Need to Be An Engineer To Apply?

Definitely not. While technology is a large part of the program, we aim at enabling all of our students to become proficient in cutting edge technology related to their projects very efficiently. This starts with training in applied maths and computer sciences but quickly transitions into applied projects. If you demonstrate a knack for solving logical problems in a beautiful intriguing way, this is the right place for you.

What Do I Need To Apply?

Apart from a bachelor's degree (min. 180 ECTS), you'll need a portfolio and a cover letter, which you are asked to upload when applying for the master's program at Nuremberg.

What Kind of Portfolio Do You Expect?

A portfolio can come in many shapes and forms, regardless if it focuses on visual design, animation, app or game development, interactive experiences, AI based projects or algorithms you've implemnted. Simply make sure your portfolio clearly shows what you are passionate about and which projects you are proud of. No matter which medium.

I Sent My Application. What's Next?

Once the application period has passed, we'll evaluate your application. Once we decide you're a good fit for the program, we'll invite you to an online interview and an aptitude test.

What's the Aptitude Test Like?

The aptitude test consists of three parts: An interview, a logic aptitude test and a design aptitude test. The logic aptitude tests is a 30 min. electronic test design to evaluate your logic problem solving skills. The design aptitude test is a 3h test in which you'll be asked to solve a design problem and produce a presentation document outlining your solution. Finally you'll be interviewed for 10 min. to get to know you better.

What to expect from the master's program.

What Is The Program about?

The program is designed to enable students to use cutting edge technology (such as AI, Generative Design or Physical Interaction) to express themselves in their design projects. No matter if you want to create the next web app, design generative systems or research the depths of AI, you'll find a home here. The program is structured so that during the first year, students learn and employ advanced technology basics and design research strategy. The thrid semester is spent abroad to allow an international network to form. The fourth semester is there for you to finish your master's project and thesis.

Is It Time Consuming?

It depends. The program is designed as a full time program. As such it definitely allows for having a side job, but that of course depends on your individual personality, personal goals and resilience.

Do You Focus on Tech? Or Design?

Both. While the program is rooted in the faculty of design, we are convinced that a solid fundamental understanding of cutting edge technology is crucial in order for our students to be and remain succesful.
